WikiTree
The single world tree means that your research is never wasted – in fact, many of us at the New Zealand Project spend most of our time improving profiles of people that we have no relation to. And your work will never be lost or hidden because someone can’t afford to pay a subscription to see it.
It’s a common occurrence for your work to connect up with other people’s work that you never would have drawn a connection to , if just working on a solo tree.
The combination of the single tree and the Categorization system allows for connections to be discovered that would otherwise have been missed.
Just a few of the many things that are possible via the categorization system:
- People buried at Oxford Cemetery. Use the “My Connections” button to rank them in order of how closely they are related to you!
- People from Dunmore, County Tyrone – where my ancestor James Bell is from. Note the free text research spaces under the “Pages” heading.
- Notable New Zealand sportspeople – who are you the most closely connected to? Similiarly, there are categories for people Notable in other ways.
- How far am I from King Charles?
WikiTree also has a graduated privacy system for protecting the Personal Data of living people and the recently deceased.
